Buckingham Palace announces Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee Plans

A year before Her Majesty celebrates 60 years on the throne, Buckingham Palace have announced a special four-day holiday weekend to celebrate the milestone.

The special holiday weekend will take place in the UK from 2 – 5 June 2012.

Holiday highlights will include: Her Majesty attending the Epsom Derby; the Thames hosting the largest flotilla seen since the reign of King James I; the Big Jubilee Lunch; and a Diamond Jubilee Concert, to be held at Buckingham Palace.  There are also plans to light 2,012 beacons across Britain and the Commonwealth at the Jubilee Concert’s climax.

To conclude the celebrations, the Queen will attend a Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
