Dame Judi Dench, Dev Patel and Rupert Everrett are among the celebrities appearing in a new campaign for the tourism agency VisitBritain. The campaign hopes to attract overseas visitors to Britain.
The celebrities will feature in a television advert inviting audiences to join in the “national mood of celebration” following the Royal wedding, and in the run-up to Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Olympics.
Other celebrities involved in the campaign include Jamie Oliver and Twiggy. Alongside the TV advert, each celebrity has shot a short personal invitation to Britain, from a location of their choice, that will be posted onto Youtube.
Sandie Dawe, chief executive of VisitBritain, said “This campaign aims to inspire visitors to come and explore for themselves. Over four years, we aim to attract 4 million extra overseas visitors, who will spend £2 billion across Britain.”
