Malaysia approves 30 percent women at decision-making level in private sector policy

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has announced that the Malaysian government has approved the policy of ensuring that women make up 30% of the the decision-making level at private companies.

Nijab said this was a continuation of the 30% policy that was approved for the public sector in 2004.

The corporate sector has been given a five year period to implement the policy and the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry, along with agencies such as the Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the Malaysian Alliance of Corporate Directors and the Malaysian Directors Academy will help to train women with the potential to reach the decision-making level to ensure that the quota is achieved.
