The Jubilee Time Capsule has today interviewed the High Commissioner for Trinidad and Tobago in the UK, His Excellency Mr Garvin Nicholas.
When asked to talk about a date important to him, His Excellency chose the 24th May 2010: the day that Trinidad and Tobago saw a new government elected.
His Excellency then explained why the election is important to him:
Firstly “it saw the first female Prime Minister [Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar] of Trinidad and Tobago be elected. It was also the first time that a coalition government representing all segments of Trinidad and Tobago came to an agreement prior to an election and won the election so that, as far as Trinidad and Tobago politics is concerned, all segments of a very diverse society can now feel represented in government”.
