British Secretary of State for International Development talks to the JTC

The Jubilee Time Capsule has interview the Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell MP, British Secretary of State for International Development.

Mr Mitchell was coordinator of Project Umubano, the Conservative’s Social Action project in Rwanda and Sierra Leone, from 2007-2010 and in his interview talks about how he fell in love with the country after his first visit in July 2005.

Mr Mitchell says “I’d gone to Rwanda to see how a country that has been through so much recovers after the dreadful genocide where more than 800,000 people died in a space of 90 days.  And because of the importance of tackling conflict, and reconciling people after conflict to development, I wanted to go there and find some answers to this question”.
