The Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF) began yesterday in Perth as delegates enjoyed a relaxed day in the seaside town of Fremantle.
The CYF is being held at the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle Western Australia from 23 to 27 October 2011. It’s organised by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations in association with the Commonwealth Youth Exchange Council and the Commonwealth Youth Programme.
The Forum is being attended by 130 delegates from across the globe, with the aim of developing understanding of the Commonwealth and creating a platform for young people to contribute to the Commonwealth.
The first day saw delegates enjoy a relaxed day in Fremantle, as they explored the town and were treated to a concert and, in true Aussie style, a meet and greet BBQ, there was even a kangaroo or two in attendance!
Having enjoyed an informal first day, the delegates then attended a more formal opening Ceremony with Prime Minister Gillard earlier on today to officially open the Youth Forum.
