Continuing with November’s sports theme we recently interviewed Dame Mary Peters, a British athlete and gold medal winner in both the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
When asked to talk about a standout moment from the past 60 years Dame Mary chose to talk about winning a gold medal in the pentathlon at the 1972 Olympics in Munich.
Dame Mary recalls how achieving four personal bests in five disciplines allowed her to beat the favourite, Heide Rosendahl, to gain the top spot on the podium, winning the gold medal by only 10 points out of 4801.
Dame Mary also talks about how her success means she can now help talented young athletes achieve their own successes through the Mary Peters Trust.
