George Alagiah shares his memorable moment with the Jubilee Time Capsule

This afternoon the Jubilee Time Capsule team visited the BBC studios to interview newsreader and journalist George Alagiah.

Despite being busy with preparations for the News at Six George found time to share his memorable moment from the past 60 years with the Jubilee Time Capsule.

George chose to talk about November 1961, the date his family made the move from Sri Lanka, where he was born, to Ghana, where he completed his primary education.

George recalls the move, travelling from one Commonwealth country to another, the significance of Ghana becoming the first Sub-Saharan country to gain Independence in Africa, and the change in fortunes that the move bought both his family and his own future.
