The Big Lunch is a simple idea from the Eden Project, the aim is to encourage as many people in the UK as possible to have lunch with their neighbours once a year, for a few hours of community, friendship and fun. In 2012 it is celebrating The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on Sunday 3rd June.
Since 2009 thousands of Big Lunches have taken place in all kinds of communities, and in 2011 the number of participants doubled to the best part of two million people. The Big Lunch is inclusive and welcoming, and it works, with the majority of Big Lunchers reporting that they feel closer to their neighbours as a result.
This year a record number of people are expected to take part, so what are you waiting for? Host a Big Lunch and help build a sense of community where you live.
Free Big Lunch resources are now available to help you get your event off the ground. To request your free pack containing invites, posters, a wall-planner, stickers, some seeds and much more visit http://www.thebiglunch.com/ or call the team on 0845 850 8181.
